2019 in Review

And there goes another year an entire decade. Turns out my early twenties ended up being only slightly less confusing than my early teens, and I’m cautiously looking forward to see what I will write about my early thirties. Hopefully instructions on how to obtain more of this mythical adult wisdom. But more on that later – here’s 2019 in review.

Gamescom 2019

I had a blast this year. It’s really fun to be busy – your brain just goes on autopilot after a while and you feel super productive no matter how superficial the meetings are. That said, by the time Thursday rolled around I was quite relieved to fly back – my condolences go out to the people who had to stay the entire week.

Slush 2018

I recently visited Finland to attend Slush and talk to some foreign investors about our funding round in January 2019. It was my first time at the tech conference, and I had a blast: The event is jam packed with networking opportunities, the quality of people you meet is stellar, and Helsinki is just a lovely city (if a bit cold).

Devcom 2018

Another year, another game developer conference. This was the first time I attended Devcom, and I have to say it’s a pretty good replacement for the now defunct GDC EU. There’s a decent selection of speakers, and the attendees come from all sectors of the games industry which gives the event a slightly less corporate feeling. The on-site catering service is still pretty lackluster though, and I sorely miss Respawn.
